چکیده

Sub-micrometre sized hematite particles with a controlled structure were prepared by forced hydrolysis of a Fe(NO3)3·9H2O aqueous solution in the presence of poly(alkylene oxide) triblock copolymer (Pluronic P123). The resulting particles show an echinoid-like shape and a narrow size distribution. After removal of the polymer by calcination at 500 C for 3 h, the resulting particles show a retained size and shape with disordered mesopores. Calcination also leaded to the complete transformation of crystallinity from ferric oxyhydroxide to hematite. Forced hydrolysis of the ferric ion solution in the presence of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEG) and poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) was also carried out to investigate the mechanism of the particle formation. Particles which resulted from PEG and PVP solutions have a different shape or a randomly aggregated form. The formation of micelles of Pluronic P123 copolymer and the hydrogen bonding between the exterior of micelles and inorganic precursors are responsible for the isotropic shape of particles.

Relationships between the physicochemical properties of an amphiphilic triblock copolymers/DNA complexes and their intramuscular transfection efficiency

Poly(ethyleneoxide)-poly(propyleneoxide)-poly(ethyleneoxide) triblock copolymer (PEO-PPO-PEO) based plasmid delivery systems are increasingly drawing attention in the field of nonviral gene transfer because of their proven in vivo transfection capability. They result from the simple association of DNA molecules with uncharged polymers. We examined the physicochemical properties of PEO-PPO-PEO/D...

Small-angle X-ray scattering study of the interaction of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) triblock copolymers with lipid bilayers.

The relationship between molecular architecture and the nature of interactions with lipid bilayers has been studied for a series of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) triblock copolymers using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and thermal analysis (differential scanning calorimetry, DSC). The number of molecular repeat units in the hydrophobic po...

Reversible thermo-responsive luminescent metallo-supramolecular triblock copolymers based on platinum(II) terpyridyl chromophores with unusual aggregation behaviour and red-near-infrared (NIR) emission upon heating.

Two platinum(II) terpyridyl-based metallo-supramolecular triblock copolymers, [ClPt(tpy)PEO-PPO-PEO(tpy)PtCl](OTf)(2) (1) and [(Ph-C≡C)Pt(tpy)PEO-PPO-PEO(tpy)Pt(C≡C-Ph)](OTf)(2) (2), have been synthesized and characterized. The two complexes were found to aggregate with PtPt and/or π-π interactions at high temperature, which have not been reported so far, as revealed by UV/Vis absorption, emiss...

Ordering in Mixtures of a Triblock Copolymer with a Room Temperature Ionic Liquid

Well-ordered block copolymer (BCP) morphologies are obtained by blending PEO-PPOPEO triblock copolymer surfactants with the room temperature ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate. The selective association of the IL with the PEO blocks increases the segregation strength by raising the effective interaction parameter between the PEO and PPO blocks. Therefore, the copo...

Block copolymer-mediated synthesis of gold nanoparticles in aqueous solutions: segment effect on gold ion reduction, stabilization, and particle morphology.

We report here on the segment effects of poly(ethylene oxide)-containing block copolymers (PEO-BCP) on the reduction activity for tetrachloride gold(III) ([AuCl(4)](-)), interfacial activity for gold surface, colloidal stability, and morphology of gold nanoparticles formed in aqueous solutions. In particular, the effects of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly(propylene oxide) (PPO), polyethylene (...
